From the moment we stepped into Cabo Beach Club, it was clear that this was no ordinary concert. The intimate coastal setting, the warm ocean breeze, and the moonlit sky created a magical backdrop for Hollow Coves’ heartfelt melodies.
Despite initial nerves about performing in Cape Town for the first time, the Australian indie-folk duo quickly found their rhythm. In a heartfelt Facebook post, they admitted:
“It’s always quite difficult to know what to expect when performing in a new country or city for the first time. But little did we know that we would end up having to upgrade the venue.”
A Sold-Out Success
Originally set for a smaller venue, overwhelming demand led to a capacity upgrade, with over 1,000 fans filling the space. The audience sang along to every lyric, creating a deep connection between the performers and their South African admirers.
A Special Surprise – Matthew Mole Joins the Stage
A standout moment of the night was when Matthew Mole, one of South Africa’s own folk-pop stars, joined Hollow Coves for an impromptu performance. The energy was electric, leaving fans in awe of the unforgettable collaboration.
A Lasting Impression
As the evening came to a close, Hollow Coves expressed their gratitude:
“Such a magical evening under the full moon. Thanks so much to everyone who came out and made us feel so welcomed.”
Missed the show? There’s still a chance to catch them live! Hollow Coves’ South African tour continues in Johannesburg on 16 February.
