Epic Games Takes Legal Action Against FNCS Cheater, Forces Public Apology and Charity Donation
Epic Games has taken a zero-tolerance stance on cheating in the Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS), taking legal action against a player who fraudulently qualified for the 2023 FNCS Global Championship. As part of the penalty, the player was forced to post a public apology video and forfeit their prize money, which will be donated to charity.
Fortnite Cheater Banned for Life
The player in question, Morgan Bamford (RepulseGod), was found guilty of account sharing to qualify for the tournament, a direct violation of Epic’s competitive integrity rules. As a result, they have been permanently banned from all future Fortnite tournaments.
FNCS is one of the biggest esports tournaments in the world, with a $4 million prize pool, making any form of cheating a serious offense. The Fortnite Competitive account on Twitter confirmed the ban and legal action, emphasizing that Epic Games will not tolerate any form of cheating in competitive play.
Epic’s Ongoing Fight Against Cheaters
This is not the first time Epic Games has taken legal measures against competitive players who break the rules. In previous cases, the developer has sued players for using unfair software and hardware advantages. This latest case serves as another warning to players that cheating will result in severe consequences—including legal repercussions and public accountability.
With FNCS 2025 already underway, Epic Games remains committed to keeping Fortnite’s competitive scene fair and legitimate.
