Samsung’s Trifold Galaxy “G Fold” May Have Just Leaked in One UI 8

Samsung may have unintentionally revealed its next big innovation: a trifold foldable device potentially dubbed the Galaxy G Fold. Spotted in the One UI 8 beta animations by Android Authority, the leak shows detailed folding mechanics, design elements, and possible hardware layout of Samsung’s first triple-screen foldable.

What the Animations Reveal

The animations—embedded in the latest One UI 8 build—show a futuristic triple-hinge foldable phone, internally labeled “Multifold 7.” It aligns closely with what Samsung teased at its January Unpacked event, where a basic sketch hinted at a triple-display form factor.

Key visual takeaways from the leaked files include:

  • Triple-Panel Design: The device folds twice—once inward and once outward—creating a sandwich-like form.

  • Rear Triple-Camera Module: Positioned on the right-hand panel when unfolded, alongside the NFC chip.

  • Front-Facing Camera: Located on the cover screen and usable whether folded or fully opened.

  • Unique Folding Mechanics: Unlike Huawei’s Z-shaped Mate X fold, Samsung’s design uses two asymmetrical hinges—left folds in, right folds over.

  • Warning Animation: Users are advised not to fold the right panel first, due to the raised camera module potentially causing damage.

How It Compares

Samsung’s approach appears more protected than Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design, which leaves a portion of the screen exposed at all times. While Huawei’s design allows for greater display flexibility, Samsung’s may offer more durability—critical for everyday users.

What’s Next?

This leaked design is not confirmed as final. Still, speculation is mounting that Samsung may officially reveal the Galaxy G Fold (or whatever the final name may be) at its July 9 Unpacked event, alongside refreshed versions of the Z Fold and Z Flip.

Stay tuned for more updates as Samsung potentially ushers in the next generation of foldables.
