As of April 16, 2025, Microsoft’s “Stream Your Own Game” feature has officially rolled out to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, ending its Xbox Insider exclusivity and opening up a powerful new way to play.
This means that Xbox users can now buy and stream eligible Xbox titles they own—even if those games aren’t part of the Xbox Game Pass rotation—across a wide range of devices including Xbox One, PCs, smartphones, and more.
What Is Stream Your Own Game?
Originally launched in November 2024 for Xbox Insiders, Stream Your Own Game gives players the ability to stream their purchased Xbox Series X/S games using Xbox Cloud Gaming, even if they don’t own the newest console. The feature expanded in December 2024 to include Xbox One, but was still locked behind Insider testing—until now.
As of April 16, all Game Pass Ultimate members can:
✅ Buy and stream supported Xbox games not included in Game Pass
✅ Play Series X/S games on Xbox One consoles via cloud streaming
✅ Stream on PCs, iOS and Android devices, Amazon Fire TVs, VR headsets, and more
✅ Save storage space by streaming instead of downloading
How It Works
If you’re an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member (at $19.99/month), you can now:
-
Purchase select games from the Microsoft Store
-
Stream them on any supported device through Xbox Cloud Gaming
-
Enjoy AAA titles without owning high-end hardware
Currently, over 125 games are supported, including titles from Square Enix, Larian Studios, and top indie developers. Popular games like Final Fantasy XIV, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Cyberpunk 2077 are already playable via Stream Your Own Game.
Requirements to Stream
While the service brings high-end gaming to more people, there are some technical requirements:
-
A strong internet connection (minimum 20 Mbps via Ethernet or 5GHz Wi-Fi)
-
A compatible device, such as Xbox One, a PC running Chrome or Edge, or supported smartphones and smart TVs
-
An active Game Pass Ultimate membership
More Games Coming Soon
Stream Your Own Game is expanding rapidly, with more titles planned to join the service in May and June. Microsoft has hinted at greater third-party involvement and possibly even exclusive cloud-streamable content in the near future.
Why It Matters
For gamers who own an Xbox One or prefer gaming on other devices, Stream Your Own Game bridges the gap between console generations. It also adds incredible value to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription by removing the traditional hardware and storage barriers for accessing next-gen titles.
